Gates at Sound Heaven Studios

Gates are used to remove extraneous sound from a track. For example, if you have a recorded bass drum but you have leakage from the nearby hi-hat, you can use a gate to remove the hi-hat. Gates are particularly useful in modern electronic (hip-hop, trance, dub-step and so on) music, which is why we have such a range at our studio. We have eight channels of gating available.

DRAWMER DUAL GATE DS201 - Sound Heaven Studios     DRAWMER DUAL GATE DS201
This was the first design that Ivor Drawmer introduced to the audio world. The 'industry standard', this unit enables frequency-sensitive gating. The DS201 has an extremely fast attack time which allows the preservation of the sound's natural attack. The unit allows both ducking and gating. Fantastic for dance, house and pretty well anything in the electro-realm. There are two of these at Sound Heaven.
DRAWMER QUAD NOISE GATE DS 404 - Sound Heaven Studios     DRAWMER QUAD NOISE GATE DS 404
Another four channels of high-quality gating. The DS404  has the same high- and low-pass filter function as the DS 201, allowing frequency-sensitive gating. The hard- and soft-gating option allow lightning-fast gating, or can act as an expander. All channels are linkable. Great gear.
